Landscape Charlie design-build construction process

Our 7-Step Design-Build Process

From first conversation to final walkthrough, every step is designed to keep you informed and confident in the outcome. Here is exactly what to expect when you work with Landscape Charlie.

Your Project Journey

Initial Consultation

We meet at your property to walk the space together, discuss your vision, and understand how you want to use your outdoor area. This is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation where we listen first and share ideas second. The consultation is always complimentary.

Site Assessment

Charlie takes detailed measurements, evaluates grade changes, soil conditions, drainage patterns, sun exposure, and existing utilities. This technical foundation ensures the design works with your property, not against it. We identify any potential challenges early.

Concept Design

Based on your input and our site analysis, we develop a concept design for your review. For larger projects, this includes photorealistic 3D renderings so you can see exactly how the finished space will look from multiple angles before a single paver is laid.

Design Refinement

Your feedback shapes the final plan. We refine materials, layouts, and details until every element matches your expectations. Nothing moves forward until you are completely satisfied with the design. Most projects require one or two revision rounds.

Detailed Proposal

You receive an itemized proposal with clear pricing, material specifications, a construction timeline, and payment schedule. No hidden fees or vague line items. You will know exactly what you are getting and what it costs before making any commitment.

Construction

Charlie and his crew handle every phase of construction, from excavation and grading through final installation. Charlie is on-site daily as both project lead and working builder. You receive regular updates and can see the progress firsthand as your vision takes shape.

Final Walkthrough

When construction is complete, we walk the finished project together. We review every element, answer your questions, provide care and maintenance guidance, and make sure you are fully satisfied. Our work is not done until you say it is.

Design Creator On-Site

Most landscape companies separate their design team from their construction crew. The person who draws the plan is rarely the person who builds it. That gap leads to miscommunication, design compromises, and results that do not match the vision.

At Landscape Charlie, that gap does not exist. Charlie is both the designer and the lead builder. He creates the design concept during consultation, refines it with your feedback, and then personally builds it alongside his crew. When a question comes up during construction, the person making the decision is the same person who designed the plan.

This integrated approach means faster decisions, fewer change orders, and a finished project that matches what was promised. It is the core advantage of working with a true design-build company.

3D Design Renderings

For larger projects, we create detailed 3D renderings that show your completed landscape from multiple viewpoints. This technology allows you to see how pavers, walls, plantings, lighting, and structures come together before construction begins.

These renderings are not rough sketches. They are photorealistic visualizations that include accurate material textures, plant sizes, and lighting conditions. You can see how the space looks during the day and at night with landscape lighting. This gives you confidence in the design and eliminates guesswork.

The 3D design process also helps identify potential issues early, such as sightline concerns, grading challenges, or scale problems, that are difficult to catch on a flat drawing. Changes are easy to make in the design phase and expensive to make during construction.

What Goes Into Every Project

Base preparation and compaction for steps

Proper Base Preparation

Every installation starts with a properly excavated and compacted aggregate base. This invisible foundation is what makes the difference between a project that lasts 5 years and one that lasts 30.

Boulder wall construction in progress

Expert Craftsmanship

ICPI and NCMA certifications ensure every paver is placed and every wall block is set according to industry standards. There is no substitute for training and experience.

Attention to Detail

The details make the difference: clean cutting, precise borders, consistent joint spacing, and thoughtful accent patterns. These are the elements that elevate a good project to an exceptional one.
